   Your cat is miserable, please go to the vet and pick up some proper flea meds like Advantage or Frontline. They do not contain harsh pesticides like over-the-counter products do and they are the only flea treatments that have been shown to be consistently safe and effective.

   The time for natural home remedies is BEFORE your cat gets a flea problem. From the sounds of it your cat already has a pretty bad infestation. If you let this too long your cat is going to become anemic and will need to be hospitalized, which is going to cost you several hundred dollars, plus your mom could be charged with animal neglect for failing to provide him with a reasonable level of medical care.

   Dawn dish soap may work on a tiny kitten, but on a full-grown cat with a big infestation it’s not going to get all of them and whatever ones are left will just breed and the problem will start all over again.

   I heard people use food grade food grade diatomaceous earth for fleas.

   People on thecatsite.com have been using this stuff for their flea infestation. You can dust it in you cat fur, on your furniture, carpets. It non-toxic if you or you cat eat some. Also get rids in internal parasites.

   Use Dawn soap to give King a bath and it will get the fleas off his fur. It doesnt contain harsh dangerous chemicals or if you are still too scared, you can use eco friendly dish soap similar to dawn. Sprinkle Borax all over your carpet and vacuum and then dispose of the bag right away. He will need to be dewormed right away because fleas tend to carry parasite eggs.

   U need to go to the vet!!!
   U need to get some decent flea treatment.
   I recommend advantage or stronghold.
   I use stronghold, it kills fleas, ticks and prevents round worms…

   Get your cat to the vet ASAP…

   Do NOT use pet shop stuff like frontline, flea sprays, flea powder, or flea collars etc…
   They are all TOO weak and do not work. Thats why there sold in a petshop.

   Hoover your whole house, specially the places your cat goes loads. Dump the bag in an outside bin!

   Hope this helps your poor cat!

   Since you won’t use any "chemicals", the following will not be of any use to you.

   You need to understand, however, that the only way to really control or get rid of fleas is the use of "chemicals." Before you or someone else says something like, well people can or used to control fleas without "chemicals", you need to understand that for thousands of years, humans have lived with animals and they had to simply live with the animal’s fleas or lice.

   It was the creations of "chemicals" that brought about the good control of fleas that is now possible.

   I do not see why you won’t use "chemicals", as my understanding of vegan - which I just refreshed by reading 3 pages about it - does not include a prohibition of "chemicals" such as insecticides.

   Or - are you protesting the killing of the insects themselves?

   Here are methods that will get rid of your fleas - if you are willing to use them. If you are unwilling to use them, you must simply accept that having a cat and being vegan means that you will have live with fleas in your day to day environment.

   You might be able to wash the fleas off the cat but there will be in your home and they will re-infest the cat.

   There maybe be some home remedies sort of things, but they will not be as effective as the following:

   First get Frontline, Advantage, or Revolution from the vet to treat the cats. These products are intended to be used once a month to keep fleas off the cat.

   Then, if you need to treat the house - which is often the case - use a product which not only kills adult fleas but also prevents eggs from hatching.

   When we have bad flea years (haven’t had one in along time - knock on wood we use Raid products for the house.

   They make a fogger called Raid ® : Flea Killer Plus Fogger

   We have had very good results with those products.

   Remember, you want a product that not only kills adult fleas but also prevents eggs from hatching. If you use something that does not prevent the eggs from hatching, when they hatch you are back where you started.

   There is a product, Capstar which is a pill you give the cat. It kills all of the fleas on the cat within about 5 hours.

   It does not provide long lasting protection - it merely kills all the fleas on the cat.

   You can use it to kill all the fleas on the cat and then treat the cat with Frontline, Advantage, or Revolution, and then treat the cat.

   Ask your vet about Capstar and using it in combination with other products.

   Capstar is available only by prescription.

   We have used it to kill all the fleas on feral cats who we could not handle to apply something else. We transfer them to another cage or carrier, move them out of the room, fog the room, give them the Capstar in food, and then put them back in the main cage.

   Capstar is like magic - it really will kill all of the fleas on a cat very quickly and it is safe enough that you could use it every day, if need be - though that would be an expensive way to control fleas, day to day.

   Indoor cats can get fleas that people carry in on their clothes. If you think that might be happening, get an insecticide you can spray on the yard to kill fleas.

   You will probably need to get a spray The ones that attach to the end of a hose might be the type you could use.

   Ask the people at a garden store, Lowes, or Hope Depot, or similar store for help picking an insecticide and a sprayer.

   It is a safe and easy preventative and treatment of cat fleas. Its insect repellent action deters cat fleas from making their home on your cat.

   As it’s already been said, use Frontline, YOU are Vegan the cat is NOT.
   If you want to care for your cat then do the decent thing and take him to a vet - he will probably need to get started on a course of jabs as well, from what you say you aren’t giving him the care he needs to prevent diseases he may contract.
   Those Fleas will also jump and bite YOU so the sooner you get to the Vet, the better for all.
