@loveable699 Neutering Saber will give him a more pleasant life in captivity, plus we could do other tests etc…while he was sedated. Black leopards are not a rare species of cat they are just melanistic and we don’t breed at BCR this would just had to the problem of big cats living in cages

let the leopard feel like a male leopard not a babyless bitch.plus isnt the black leopard rare for its beautiful color .they should let the leopard mate with a female and let them have a beautiful baby for the leopards sack

@Vlaxitov Our cats are not eligible to be part of the species survival plan, neutering our cats gives us the opportunity to to a full check up at the same time and the neutering helps calm the cat down to give them a more pleasant life in captivity. Black leopards aren’t a separate species of leopard, they’re simply melanistic.

Why would you neuter a black leopard? Are they that abundant that its justifiable? What benefit is there to doing it?

Many of our cats are former “pets”, which like you said many people think it would be cool, or they can “train” big cats and make them more domesticated but this never works and they grow fast, eat, a lot, require specialist vet care and will kill you if they feel like it so they are abandoned. We have a few florida bobcats that were hit by cars etc… and unable to rehab for release to the wild and cougars that were orphaned by a hunter, plus fur farm rescues, retired performing cats etc…

So are all these animals from people who thought it would be cool to keep a tiger as a pet then realize it isn’t so cool when it costs $125,000 a year to feed them. Or are some of them rejects from captive pairs or orphaned in the wild.
